Episode 179

The Lord’s Library

Where Has Krishna Menan Been?

One bright morning, the children entered the classroom with puzzled faces.

Peter: Mr. Mantra… where is Krishna Menan?

Cristina: He hasn’t taught us for such a long time.

Marina: Did he go on a pilgrimage?

James: We all miss him.

Mr. Mantra smiled kindly.

Mr. Mantra: My dear children, Krishna Menan has not forgotten you.

Sometimes, when a person discovers a profound mystery in the scriptures, he becomes silent—not because he has lost faith, but because he wishes to understand more deeply.

Peter: What mystery?

Mr. Mantra looked thoughtfully at the children.

Mr. Mantra: Many months ago, Krishna Menan heard the narration about Lord Krishna’s 16,108 queens.

He was astonished.

He said to himself,

“Did I hear correctly? Sixteen thousand one hundred and eight queens? How can my little mind understand such an unlimited truth?”

The more he reflected, the quieter he became.

He prayed.

He read.

He searched the scriptures.

He did not wish to teach something he himself had not fully understood.

The classroom became silent.

Just then, the large screen flickered to life.

Krishna Menan appeared online.

His face carried both humility and joy.

Krishna Menan: Hare Krishna, my dear children.

Students: Hare Krishna!

Krishna Menan: Mr. Mantra has spoken the truth.

For a long time, I could hardly believe my ears when I first heard about Lord Krishna’s 16,108 queens.

My ordinary human mind tried to measure the Unlimited Lord.

That was my mistake.

I thought,

“Surely there must be something I have misunderstood.”

So I became quiet.

Not because I doubted Lord Krishna…

But because I doubted my own understanding.

Today, after hearing Mr. Mantra explain the compassion behind these divine pastimes, I realise something wonderful.

The miracle is not that Krishna had 16,108 queens.

The greater miracle is that the Infinite Lord could give each one His complete love, complete protection, and complete presence.

That is possible only because He is Bhagavān—the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Mr. Mantra: Exactly, Krishna Menan.

If we try to understand God as though He were an ordinary human being, confusion will follow.

But when we first understand who Krishna is, His divine pastimes begin to reveal their true purpose.

Krishna Menan: Thank you, my dear friend.

Sometimes, the greatest journey is not across oceans.

It is the journey from “I cannot believe it” to “I cannot fully comprehend it, but I trust the wisdom of the scriptures and continue to learn.”

The children smiled.

They realised that even a beloved teacher could continue learning with humility.

Together they folded their hands.

Everyone: Hare Krishna!

And the fragrance of wisdom filled The Lord’s Library, where every sincere question became a stepping stone towards eternal understanding.
