Rukmini secretly sent a messenger to Krishna with a letter. Her message was essentially:

“I have chosen You as my husband.”

She asked Krishna to come and take her away before she was forced to marry another man.

So, when Krishna came to Vidarbha, Rukmini willingly went with Him.

Ha-ha-ha! Exactly! Krishna carried her away in His chariot before the unwanted wedding could take place.

Ha-ha-ha! Very good! But remember, describing Krishna’s action simply as “kidnapping” can be misleading. In the traditional account, Rukmini herself had asked Krishna to rescue her.

❤️ Why Was Rukmini Especially Dear to Krishna?

“And Krishna responded to that devotion?”

The Bhāgavata tradition presents Rukmini as Krishna’s principal queen. It also tells of the other 16,100 women whom Krishna rescued from the captivity of the demon Narakasura and subsequently married.

“Wow! We’re learning about the Supreme Lord!”

Definitely, Durga! According to the traditional account, Krishna married the rescued women so that they would not be dishonoured or abandoned.

🪔 The Deeper Spiritual Meaning

Teacher:

So, students, the number 16,108 should not make us imagine that every marriage occupies exactly the same place in the narrative.

Rukmini has a particularly important place in Krishna’s story because of her exclusive devotion and her traditional identity with Lakshmi.

Students:

“So Rukmini represents the soul that has consciously chosen God?”

Teacher:

Beautifully understood!

She hears about Krishna → develops love for Him → chooses Him → calls upon Him → and Krishna comes to her. 🪷

Students:

That is one reason her story is so cherished.

And there is another beautiful episode. Krishna later playfully suggested to Rukmini that perhaps she could have chosen another husband. Rukmini became deeply distressed. Krishna then reassured her and praised her devotion.

அதனால் கிருஷ்ணர் விதர்ப்பத்திற்கு வந்தபோது, ருக்மிணி தன்னுடைய விருப்பத்தினால் அவருடன் சென்றாள்.

“உண்மையிலேயே காதல் கலந்த ரௌடித்தனம் போல இருக்கிறது, ஹா…ஹா… ஐயா!”

ஆசிரியர்:

ஹா…ஹா…! சரியாகச் சொன்னாய்! கிருஷ்ணர் அவள் விரும்பாத திருமணம் நடைபெறுவதற்கு முன்பாகவே, அவளைத் தனது தேரில் அழைத்துச் சென்றார்.

“அப்படியென்றால் திரு. நவரத்தினமும் ஒருவிதமான ரௌடியா? சும்மா கிண்டலாகத்தான் சொல்கிறேன், ஐயா! அம்மா அவருக்கு ஒரு அழகான செல்லப்பெயர் இருந்ததாகச் சொல்வார் — மிஸ்டர் மைனர்! ஹா…ஹா…!”

ஆசிரியர்:

❤️ ருக்மிணி ஏன் கிருஷ்ணருக்கு மிகவும் பிரியமானவளாக இருந்தாள்?

“ஆனால் ருக்மிணி ஏன் கிருஷ்ணருக்கு மிகவும் பிரியமானவளாக இருந்தாள்? மிஸ்டர் மைனருக்கு கிட்டத்தட்ட கால் டஜன் மனைவிகள் இருந்ததாக நாங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம்! ஹா…ஹா…!”

ஆசிரியர்:

ஹா…ஹா…! அதுதான் இந்தக் கதையின் மிக அழகான பகுதிக்கு நம்மை அழைத்துச் செல்கிறது.

ருக்மிணி பாரம்பரியமாக விஷ்ணுவின் நித்திய தெய்வீகத் துணைவியான லக்ஷ்மியின் அம்சமாக கருதப்படுகிறாள்.

“என்ன?! இதை நாங்கள் அறிந்ததே இல்லை!”

ஆசிரியர்:

ஆகவே, கிருஷ்ணருக்கும் ருக்மிணிக்கும் இடையிலான உறவு ஒரு சாதாரண அரச திருமணத்தைவிட மிகவும் ஆழமான ஒன்றைக் குறிக்கிறது, அன்பான மாணவர்களே.

“அவளுடைய பக்தி ஒருமுகமானதாகவும் முழுமையானதாகவும் இருந்தது என்று சொல்கிறீர்களா?”

அவளுடைய இதயம் முழுவதுமாக கிருஷ்ணரிடமே நிலைத்திருந்தது.

அவள் சாரமாகக் கூறியது:

> **“நான் கிருஷ்ணரையே தேர்ந்தெடுத்துள்ளேன் — கிருஷ்ணரை மட்டுமே.”**

மாணவர்கள்:

“ஓஹோ! அப்படியென்றால் அவர் சக்திவாய்ந்தவர் அல்லது புகழ்பெற்றவர் என்பதற்காக மட்டும் அவரை நேசிக்கவில்லை. தனது இதயத்தையே முழுமையாக அவரிடம் அர்ப்பணித்தாளா?”

ஆசிரியர்:

அது சரி, கிரிஸ்டினா.

“அந்த பக்திக்கு கிருஷ்ணரும் பதிலளித்தாரா?”

🪔 ஆழமான ஆன்மீகப் பொருள்

ஆசிரியர்:

ஆகவே, மாணவர்களே, 16,108 என்ற எண்ணைப் பார்த்தவுடன், ஒவ்வொரு திருமணமும் கதையில் ஒரே விதமான இடத்தைப் பெற்றதாக நாம் எண்ணக்கூடாது.

ருக்மிணிக்கு கிருஷ்ணரின் கதையில் ஒரு தனிச்சிறப்பான இடம் உண்டு. அதற்குக் காரணம் அவளுடைய முழுமையான ஒருமுகப் பக்தியும், பாரம்பரியமாக அவள் லக்ஷ்மியுடன் அடையாளப்படுத்தப்படுவதும் ஆகும்.

“அப்படியென்றால் ருக்மிணி, இறைவனை உணர்ந்து அவரையே முழுமையாகத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்த ஆன்மாவைக் குறிக்கிறாளா?”

அவள் கிருஷ்ணரைப் பற்றி கேட்கிறாள் → அவர்மீது அன்பு வளர்கிறது → அவரையே தேர்ந்தெடுக்கிறாள் → அவரை அழைக்கிறாள் → கிருஷ்ணரும் அவளிடம் வருகிறார். 🪷

மாணவர்கள்:

“புரிந்துவிட்டது, ஐயா!”

ஆசிரியர்:

அதனால்தான் அவளுடைய கதை மிகவும் அன்புடன் போற்றப்படுகிறது.

மேலும் ஒரு அழகான சம்பவம் இருக்கிறது. ஒரு சமயம் கிருஷ்ணர் விளையாட்டாக, ருக்மிணி வேறு ஒருவரை கணவராகத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்திருக்கலாம் என்று கூறினார். அதைக் கேட்ட ருக்மிணி மிகவும் வருத்தமடைந்தாள். பின்னர் கிருஷ்ணர் அவளை ஆறுதல்படுத்தி, அவளுடைய பக்தியைப் புகழ்ந்தார்.

மாணவர்கள்:

“அப்படியென்றால் அவளுடைய அன்பு அசைக்க முடியாதது என்பதுதானே பாடம்?”

நாம் கேட்கும்போது:
